A Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is a member of school staff who has lead responsibility for child protection issues in school.
At Tuckswood the headteacher is the lead DSL and there are three Alternate DSL'S who deputise should the Senior DSL not be available.
At Tuckswood we are very fortunate to have additional DSL's who are all trained to the same level - this allows us a greater coverage to deal with any safeguarding issue that may arise.
All of our DSL's attend an initial 2 day Child Protection course delivered by Safeguarding specialists from Norfolk County Council. This training is updated every two years.
In addition all DSL's attend Multi Agency training in specific specialist areas of safeguarding such as domestic abuse, neglect, Childhood Sexual Exploitation etc.
At Tuckswood all of our DSL's can be recognised by the DSL posters, as pictured that are visible around the school site and website, and are always there to support not only our children but also our families. If you have concerns please call the school office on 01603 454479 and ask to speak to a DSL.
