Empowering Mentorships is a 501c3 non profit founded in 2020 by Jelani Matthews originally designed to provide minority male students with access to positive male role models and resources on a consistent basis. In working with various organizations with the focus on mentoring minority males, Matthews found opportunity and identified the need for education and resources for the underserved communities as a whole.
Through the unprecedented times of 2020, Empowering Mentorships has evolved into a virtual platform providing training and education on financial literacy, entrepreneurship, corporate navigation and more with the goal of developing personal and professional skills required to progress in life.
Harriet Tubman Village Charter School is excited to begin a new partnership with Empowering Mentorships. If you would like your student to participate in an event hosted by Empowering Mentorships or have any additional questions, please email Ms. Bush at abush@tubmancharter.org
For 50 years, Girls Inc. of San Diego County has been guiding girls to achieve their goals and aspirations despite the unique challenges that they face. The combination of long-lasting mentoring relationships, a pro-girl environment, and research-based programming equips girls to navigate gender, economic, and social barriers, and grow up healthy, educated, and independent.
The mission of Girls Inc. of San Diego County is to help girls ages 8 to 18 see college as attainable, resist peer pressure while learning essential life skills, and explore professional fields in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) in which women are under-represented.
If you would like your student to participate in this group or attend an event hosted by Girls Inc or have any additional questions, please email Ms. Bush at abush@tubmancharter.org
The Mission Continues is a national, nonpartisan nonprofit that empowers veterans to continue their service and empowers communities with veteran talent, skills and preparedness to generate visible impact. Their organization deploys veteran volunteers alongside nonprofit partners and community leaders to improve educational resources, increase access to parks and green spaces, foster neighborhood identity, and more.
The Mission Continues has worked with schools in the past and we are excited that they have decided to continue and partner with Harriet Tubman Village Charter School for the 2020-2021 school year.
