Intensive Child & Adolescent Programs
If interested in school-based case management please read the following information in regards to Open Access.
What is Open Access?
Open Access is a more efficient way to offer same day access through an assessment that determines if interventions are warranted. If it is determined your student would benefit from interventions, a Valley Oaks Health (VOH) staff will provide recommended resources. These resources may include community-based services and/or mental health services with VOH or other agencies. This new approach allows VOH to engage with your student sooner, allows the student and family to have immediate needs assessed, and will hopefully improve overall
engagement by the student and family.
What changes will occur through Open Access?
The biggest shift from our previous intake procedure to Open Access is
that a scheduled intake is no longer required. Students and their
parents/guardians should go to 415 N. 26th Street; Suite 201
Street, Lafayette, IN 47905 to begin the assessment process.
Hours of Open Access
Mondays through Thursdays: 9 AM – 12 PM and 1 PM – 4 PM
Fridays: 9 AM – 12 PM
Hours are first come first serve. Please arrive early to complete necessary paperwork prior to assessment with clinical staff.
Additional questions?
If you have questions about Open Access, please contact our office at 1-886-682-5539 to speak to a VOH staff member.
Changes at Sycamore Springs
It can be tough to know if you have a mental health disorder, especially when you’re a teenager or younger. These years can be challenging for anyone.
But it’s not uncommon for symptoms of potentially serious illnesses to first show during adolescence. These conditions are painful, dangerous, and frightening.
We treat children and teens with:
Suicidal thinking
Substance use
Our facility provides a safe, secure space where kids can grow and heal, where they can learn skills that will help them for the rest of their lives.
At our treatment center, kids participate in programs designed specifically for them. They’re cared for by a team of mental health professionals who are trained in working with children and teens. Some of our programs include an educational component so that kids can keep up with their schoolwork.
Our child and adolescent mental health services provide outpatient treatment through two formats. In our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), kids take part in individual, group, and family therapy, as well as holistic, activity-based therapy like art, music, and yoga. Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) meets less frequently but also offers talk therapy, recreational therapy, and medication management.
Parents and children should never have to choose between education and mental health. Throughout their experience, kids receive age-appropriate education through collaborations with local schools and teachers. We also work with children, schools, and families when it’s time to reintegrate back to school, to make the transition as smooth as possible.
The first step to feeling better is to come to one of our facilities for a comprehensive, confidential mental health assessment. We’ll ask about your child’s current and past symptoms, health history, and any other concerns. During the assessment, we also provide orientation for parents and can answer any of your questions about mental health treatment.
Assessments can be scheduled by phone or chat, anytime day or night.
Following the assessment, our team will work with your child and family to determine the best approach to treatment. Each treatment plan is unique, based on your child’s needs and goals.
