Hello!  My name is Sandy Nelson.  I am super excited to be teaching 2/3 High Ability at KES!  I am a former Klondike Nugget myself!  I graduated from Purdue University (B.A. Elementary Education, Reading Minor, Kindergarten & Computer Endorsements, M.S. Educational Technology).  I taught Kindergarten and 1st grade in Lafayette for 13 years, then stayed home with my own kids for 12 years. In 2020-21, I taught 1st grade at Klondike, and in 2021-22 I moved to 2/3 High Ability at KES.  My husband, Rusty, works in the Purdue College of Agriculture.  Our 3 children are or have all been Nuggets:  Maddie (10th grade @ HHS), Katelyn (7th grade @ KMS), Riley (5th grade @ KES).  We added Bella, a Labrador Retriever puppy, to our family in April 2023!  I enjoy running, cheering on the Purdue football and basketball teams, and spending time with family.
