I believe in creating a positive classroom environment for all my students. It is research based that students thrive on positive reinforcements and do better when the focus is on the good and not the bad. Each year I make it a point to build a classroom community where we all work, learn, and play together. Students will learn to take responsibility for certain tasks in our room. We will work on positive communication with each other. Much of what I teach is based through Conscious Discipline strategies and philosophies. We will also have fun learning as much as we can!
* Good as Gold Tickets: These tickets are handed out by staff members throughout Klondike Elementary. They may be cashed in for prizes and rewards in the classroom.
*Kindness Counter: Each week a different student will be in charge of noticing kind acts in and around our classroom.
* Nugget Award: This award is given out weekly to a student who has acted as an example for others. The student receives a book of their choosing from our Book Vending Machine. His/her name is read on the announcements and published in the school newsletter.
Your child's daily behavior will be communicated to you through Class Dojo.
We do what’s right (show integrity).
We do our best (perseverance).
I will use my watching eyes.
I will use my listening ears.
I will use gentle touches.
I will use a quiet mouth.
In our classroom, any projects, tests, or papers that are graded will have a number and letter grade at the top of the paper. Since this is the first year for letter grades, the students will adjust and learn about their success. Remember, not all success are measured through grades! Your children are talented in so many different ways. If you ever have any questions about a grade, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs. Ulmer.
