Grading & Discipline

GRADING

Art projects assigned reflect the Indiana Standards for Visual Arts K-5.  Elementary students will be graded daily based on the 5 school expectations listed below. Grades will be recorded in the Parent Portal of Power School. Parents can check a student’s current art grade at any time.

TSC GRADING SCALE

A - Mastery (90% and Above)

B - Approaching Mastery (80-89%)

C - Developing Mastery (70-79%)

D - Needs Time to Master (60-69%)

F - Needs Time to Master (50-59%)

DISCIPLINE

By following school expectations, all students will stay safe, learn new things, and find joy in art. If a student chooses not to follow expectations, they will lose daily points and may receive (depending on frequency/severity):

-Verbal Warnings

-Checkmarks on the class clipboard (Mayflower only)

-Assigned seat temporarily or permanently moved away from others 

-Loss of project-making time/tools

-Parent contact- phone or email

-Office visit/Alternative location for art time

By following expectations, students may receive rewards such as:

• Whole-Class Compliment to your Teacher

• Smiley or Star on Class Clipboard

• Positive Phone Call/Email Home

• Sticker/Stamp/Candy/Surprise

• Finding their JOY in Art!
