Grading & Discipline

GRADING

Art projects reflect the Indiana Standards for Visual Arts K-5. Grades will reflect effort given and project completion. Grades will be recorded in the Parent Portal of Power School.

TSC Grading Scale:

A - Mastery (90% and Above)

B - Approaching Mastery (80-89%)

C - Developing Mastery (70-79%)

D - Needs Time to Master (60-69%)

F - Needs Time to Master (50-59%)

DISCIPLINE

Following classroom rules allow us to have the maximum amount of art time each class. If a student chooses to not follow the rules, it will be handled with the 5-Step Approach below.

Classroom Rules:

1. Be kind.

2. Listen.

3. Work quietly.

4. Try.

5. Clean-up.

5-Step Approach:

1. Verbal Warning

2. Go to Break Area, Lose Part of Art Time - Teacher will have a discussion with you when able, so that you may return to art-making

3. Checkmark (Mayflower students) & Go Back to Break Area, Lose the Rest of Art Time - You will not get to make-up lost time for projects

4. 2nd Checkmark (Mayflower students) & Fill-out the THINK SHEET to be emailed or sent home - Mrs. Lowrey will email the sheet or call grown-ups to discuss behaviors

5. 3rd Checkmark (Mayflower students) & Principal's Office

* Any violent or threatening behavior may bypass steps 1-4.
