In music, students are evaluated throughout the semester periodically in both participation and skill mastery.
In our thirty minute weekly time, we perform a variety of musical activities. Participation is 80% of the student’s semester grade.
Participation includes:
* Participating in singing, playing instruments, movement, and all musical activities explored in the classroom on that particular day.
*Using Klondike’s Golden Expectations: We are responsible. We are cooperative. We are respectful. We do what’s right (show integrity). We do our best (perseverance).
The other 20% of the semester grade comes from periodic evaluations based on the Indiana Standards for Music Education. Skill assessments are usually performance based, but could be written or aural. Mastery or appropriate progress will be the criteria used for assessment.
