What To Know About Art Class
Making and learning about art can be a lot of fun, especially when we get to use so many different materials! Here are just a few of the art mediums that we'll be working with this year:
Watercolor Paint
Tempera paint (both liquid form and cake form)
Clay
Glaze
Paper mâché
Oil pastels
India ink
Printmaking ink
Because a well-rounded arts education requires use of so many fun and messy materials, you may want to consider having your child bring an oversized shirt or apron to wear over their clothes, or just have them wear older worn-out clothing that can get messy in art class each week. Making sure your child can comfortably experiment with art media without fear of staining their clothes can enable them to explore the art-making process more freely, thereby building important 21st century skills such as flexibility, creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration, as well as their fine motor skills.
