Hello Besonen Beach Families! Welcome to kindergarten at Burnett Creek. I am  very excited for the 2025-2026 school year.  

I have been teaching for 15 years.  13 of these years have been in kindergarten at Burnett Creek. My first two years were at a small private school for kids with reading and language disabilities in Indianapolis. While teaching there I received training in Orton Gillingham. One of my favorite things about teaching kindergarten is watching them grow so much in such a small amount of time together. We have students coming together at all different levels, abilities, and experiences. We all come together and form a class family. We become readers, writers, and mathematicians. We learn all about being independent, problem solvers, and being a good friend and classmate. 

I was born and raised here in West Lafayette. I attended the West Lafayette schools.  For college I ventured down to Bloomington, Indiana and attended Indiana University.  While there I majored in elementary education and special education.  I am married to my husband, Derek. We have been married for 10 years. We have two daughters, Aubrey (8) and Ellie (5). Aubrey is so much fun and keeps us laughing.  She loves softball, basketball, and spending time with her cousins. Ellie is extremely sweet and loves trying to keep up with her sister. She loves everything baby dolls and all things bugs and animals. They have taught us a love we didn't know existed.  As a family we enjoy anything outside.  We have two dogs. Stanley who is about 13 years old and Belle who is 2 years old. 

We have a great year ahead of us. I am looking forward to being your child's teacher. I see a few familiar names on our class list. I look forward to welcoming in you back to Besonen Beach. If you are new to BCE or just new to Besonen Beach I welcome you! I cannot wait to get to know your child this year.  I take great pride in being sure your child has a wonderful start to their school career.  Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns!
