Grading Policy

Grading Scale

A 90-100

B 80-89

C 70-79

D 60-69

F 0-59

Averages:

Grades will be recorded regularly for each subject and averaged for each student. Recorded daily grades, homework, quizzes, projects, reports, and tests will be averaged together to determine the student’s quarter and semester grades. Tests, quizzes, and project scores will be weighted more heavily, unless otherwise noted before the assignment.

Subjective Grading:

Depending on the nature of the assignment, students’ grades may also reflect subjective grading. In subjective grading, effort, neatness, accuracy, promptness, improvement, and participation help to determine the student’s grade. Rubrics may be used to help guide the grading process for subjective grading, especially on long-term projects and writing assignments.

Late/Missing Assignments:

Late work will be accepted ONE day past the due date with a 10% grade deduction. After that, a zero will be entered in the grade book.

Fix and Return Policy:

Graded math assignments may be fixed and returned for an improved grade the NEXT DAY. If corrections are made, the improved grade will be entered into the grade book. This does not apply to tests, nor to late assignments.

Attendance:

When students are absent from school, work assigned in their absence may be made up if it is feasible to do so. Some activities and learning experiences are not easily replicated at home. Those assignments that can be completed independently will be accepted within a period of time equal to the number of days of the absence. Work can be sent home with another student or picked up at the end of the day for a student that is absent. Notify the teacher BEFORE lunch if you plan to pick up work at the end of the day.
