Classroom Positive Reinforcements

The “Clip Up/Clip Down Chart is used for Positive Reinforcement in all Second Grade Classrooms
*Every effort is made to reward correct behavior with positive incentives. The following is a list of some examples of positive incentives that may be used…..
*Extra Recess
*Verbal Reinforcements
*Academic games and videos
*Positive body language (pats on back, high five, etc.)
*Candy
*Stickers
*Special Job or Privilege
*In the event that this doesn’t work out, the following consequences will take place….
Consequences for Poor Student Behavior
1st Offense – Warning – Student clips down to “I Can make better choices.”
2nd Offense – Student clips down to "I can improve my behavior” and stands on the
sidewalk for 5 or 10 minutes at the next recess.
3rd Offense – Student clips down to “I can Talk about my choices” and loses an entire recess.
Parents will be informed through a note, email, or phone call.
** Please note: In more severe discipline situations, a visit with the principal may occur.
When homework is not completed, the student misses recess to complete the work. If his/her teacher is on recess duty, the student is sent to one of the other second grade classrooms to finish the work.
