Classroom Management Plan
I believe it is best for students to learn in an environment that is calm, safe, and positive. To foster this environment, all children are expected to follow these expectations:
Classroom Expectations:
Clean up and help out
Follow directions
Always do your best
Take risks and make mistakes
Share with others
Listen when others talk
Say please and thank you
Use kind words
Be open to new ideas
Respect each other
These are our general expectations. However, students will also come up with a classroom pledge together with the teacher which they will then sign. If the general or classroom pledge expectations are not followed, students will first receive a verbal warning. If the behavior continues, consequences will be given to match the behavior in hopes of teaching the student the appropriate behavior. For example, if a student is talking to a nearby classmate instead of listening during a lesson, they may be asked to move to a different seat. Continued misbehavior or more serious offenses may result in office referral or a call home.
Students will also have chances to earn class-wide or individual rewards for positive behavior. A class jar will be used for whole-class positive behavior which will result in a reward for the class once it is full. Tokens may be added to the jar for the whole class working hard, walking quietly in the hallway, or getting a positive comment from another adult in the building.
We will also be using a classroom mini-economy that will allow students to earn money for hard work, completing classroom jobs, and making good choices. Students may also lose money for not following expectations. Students will be able to redeem their money for a variety of rewards and to attend a class party at the end of each quarter.
I look forward to having a great year! 🙂
