HOMEWORK
Your child will bring home math homework every Monday that needs to be completed and returned by Friday. This is the only assignment that must be turned in. Students will also be tested on Thursday over their weekly story and there will be a phonics skill test on Friday. A copy of the story will be given to take home and practice throughout the week.

CLASSROOM PHILOSOPHY
Every child has the potential to learn and to grow. It is my goal as their educator to provide them with the environment and resources to promote their success. With the right environment and their needs met, all students can and will learn. In room 18, we use individual and class systems to establish an environment together; continuing to reevaluate the classroom environment as students' needs change.
Flexibility is a crucial component in life as well as in the classroom. A willingness to adapt to situations and change mindsets are critical for the success of our classroom. The goal is to find new and exciting ways to engage the learners' young minds each day.
The foundation of our classroom is the rules, procedures, and expectations. These provide a framework for a safe environment where students are embraced and valued. The students' responsibility in maintaining rules, procedures, and expectations will led to the success of the classroom.
My students are my priority. I strive to ensure each student feels welcomed, seen, heard, valued, loved, and supported. I want them to know I believe in them, I am here to listen, and they are important to me. Let's have some fun!
TSC Volunteer
In order to volunteer in the classroom, whether to assist with classroom tasks, volunteer for a party, or chaperone a field trip, you must completed and have an approved TSC volunteer form on file. Even if you are not certain you will be able to assist throughout the year, I highly encourage you to complete this form. This will prevent delays in the event that you do choose to attend a party or a field trip!
Snacks
Your child may also bring a snack in to eat in the afternoon each day. It needs to be something easy for them to open and eat. Acceptable snacks include: crackers, pretzels, dry cereal, string cheese, raisins, fruit/veggies, etc. Please note that candy, soda, cakes, chips, and anything greasy or finger-coloring are not permitted. Due to allergies in the classroom, snacks containing nuts or peanut products are not allowed.
Water bottles
You may send in a SPILL PROOF water bottle (labeled with your child's name) to school each day. Please only send in water and no flavoring.
Birthday Celebrations
Birthdays will be recognized in the classroom. Whether or not you send in a treat is your decision. The preferred birthday treats are prepackaged snacks, store bought cookies, or donuts. Due to sensitivities of food dye found in icings, please do not send cupcakes or items containing nuts.
We have limited access to refrigerators, so please no ice cream, drinks, or anything that needs to stay cold.
Children who have summer birthdays are welcome to celebrate on their half birthdays.
Please be reminded that it is also a school policy to only pass out invites to the whole class. Thank you for considering the feelings of all the students.
