Hello, my name is Danae Rush. I am the Physical Education teacher for Wyandotte Elementary School and Battle Ground Elementary School. I am thrilled to be apart of both of these school families and the Tippecanoe School Corporation.
I am a lifelong resident of Lafayette. I recently graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Health and Physical Education. I am also a fitness instructor in town. I am excited to teach your children about the benefits of lifelong physical activity and health-related fitness components, i.e.. strength, muscular endurance, cardiovascular endurance, flexibility, and body composition.
During this school year we will be playing fitness and tactical games that will use both locomotor and non-locomotor skills, as well as manipulative skill. These include throwing, kicking, running, etc. Don't be surprised if your students come home to tell you about our health-related fact of the day or feeling their heart rate racing as they play. One thing I am planning on doing is to have health-related fitness months. During these months our games and skill practice will tie into these activities.
It is my passion for your children to succeed in P.E. and to learn something new everyday. I plan to teach them about physical activity and healthy lifestyles and how to use these skills for the rest of their lives. I look forward to working with each of them to help them to reach their full potential.
