Suggestions of things to wear/bring
A lot depends on the weather that day…check on the internet that morning. The key is to dress in layers, b/c you will start out cold, then get hot, then probably cool down before you finish.
When dressing, try to avoid clothes made of cotton if at all possible. It won't kill you, but when cotton gets wet, it does not insulate you and it doesn't dry fast.
Starting closest to the body
long underwear (top and bottom) or something like Under Armor,
warm socks…these are very important if you want to enjoy the day, especially if you know that your toes tend to get cold. Synthetic is better than cotton. Avoid layering socks…at some point it becomes counter-productive b/c it cuts off the circulation.
thin pants to go over the long underwear (sweatpants, athletic pants) or shorts if it isn't that cold
1 or 2 layers on top (fleece, or sweatshirt), you should be okay with 1 if you have a warm coat
snow pants or something that repels water...jeans are not very comfortable as the outer level. If you do wear jeans, make sure that you won't get cold, you might want to spray them with scotch guard.
winter coat, not leather or a dress coat. If your coat isn't very warm, compensate with extra layers underneath.
hat, goggles or sunglasses (especially if it is snowing or sunny), neck warmer, avoid scarves (some places they don't allow you to ride the lifts with a scarf on…make sure you tuck it into your coat if you bring one). A neck warmer doubles as a mask.
warm gloves or mittens… these are very important if you want to enjoy the day, especially if you know that your fingers tend to get cold. Mittens keep you warmer than gloves, but are more cumbersome. Heads-Up: If you have never skied before, bring an older pair or insulated work gloves, b/c they will get torn up on the rope-tow.
tennis shoes you don't care about…they will be left in the changing room when you get your boots. A change of dry clothes for the ride home.
If you are trying snowboarding for the first or second time, I would highly recommend bringing wrist guards and knee pads and extra padding for your butt…you will thank me the next day.
Other stuff…mandatory things are highlighted:
Money for food, driver's license (if renting a snowboard), water bottle (there are no drinking fountains because of covid), sun block (if it is sunny), chapstick, snacks for the bus and slopes, lunch if you want to pack it (food is pricy at the lodge), hand-warmers, quarters for lockers.
