I believe it is best for students to learn in an environment that is calm, safe, and happy. To foster this environment, all children are expected to follow these expectations:
I will have a calm body.
I will use gentle hands.
I will use kind words.
I will use listening ears.
I will help keep our classroom safe.
I will use watching eyes.
About our Classroom Mini Economy/Discipline Policy:
Students will earn "money" to reinforce positive behaviors. Children will have the chance to use their money to shop at our biweekly classroom store. All children will start with $5. Students will have opportunities to continuously earn money throughout the school day. However, sometimes students will need to lose money if they are not following our rules and procedures.
Understand that in the primary grades it is a time where students are learning proper school behavior. Talk to your child if he/she comes home and says it was not a good day. Ask your child what happened. Talk to your child about what he/she can do next time that would be a better choice. Praise your child when he/she comes home and says it was a good day.
At the start of each week, the children will receive a homework sheet to complete for the week. The homework sheet will contain the children's reading/phonics assignment. The parents will then sign off on the homework sheet, and on Friday I will collect the homework sheet for completion.
