It's Fall Vacation Day!

Students spend the money saved from their classroom jobs on this day off of school! Options include Extra Gym, Face Painting, Watercolors, Playdough, Tech Time, Dress up in a Costume, and Read in the Boat!

Our Thanksgiving Food Drive was a great success! Our class donated over 500 items to River City Food Bank to help families in our community during the holidays.

Candy Grams 2021 - Class Business Enterprise

Each year (well, except 2020 due to Covid19 restrictions) our class runs a Class Business Enterprise. 

We manufactured and delivered over 1000 Rudolph Candy Grams this year.!

Students worked hard manufacturing over 1000 Rudolph Candy Grams - both Tootsie Pop and Candy Cane options.

After orders were compiled, it was time to process, sort, and deliver all the Candy Grams!

Junior Achievement:

Students learned about economics and community as the second semester started. Donut production taught students the pros and cons of unit and assembly line production of products. And we ate real Mary Lou donuts!

Tax Day

Students paid taxes for April 15th Tax Day. 10% of their earnings went to Mrs. H and then each class member was given a stipend of $265.

Animal Tooth Sleuth

Thanks to the Tippecanoe Parks Department for loaning us skulls for our Animal Unit!

Classroom Business Showcase

We were able to attend the Purdue Classroom Business Showcase to present our Rudolph Candy Gram Business. Five students earned this honor and showed off our business to local business owners and Purdue Economics staff. Even Purdue Pete showed up!

Fine Arts Night

Third Quarter was our turn to perform all we learned in Music. We played instruments and sang proudly!

Science Activities:

In addition to our classroom lessons, we also attended the Evonic Chemistry Demonstration. One of our students competed against Mrs. Grubb to create a chemical reaction.

We were able to meet our MHS Pen Pals and spend time playing games. Each year we write to the Child Development class at McCutcheon.

Class Auction!

Over thirty local businesses responded to our hand-written letters and donated amazing items for our Class Auction. From gift cards to toys to sports merchandise, students had an amazing assortment to bid on and spend all their money from the year.

One of many businesses to donate to our Class Auction at the end of the year - Insomnia Cookies brought us warm cookies!

Students decided what they were willing to pay on each item in the Class Auction.

Catered Lunch

Each year the class votes on how to spend our profits - one-third to charitable donations (Animal Shelter and Riley's), one-third to savings for next year's business, and one-third to spend. In addition to a new vacuum and table signs, the students voted to order lunch: Igloo, McDonald's, and Dominoes.

Read Across America

To celebrate we have a campout day! We pretend we are camping overnight in our pajamas by the campfire and eat smores and popcorn. Bringing in our camping lanterns helps add to the ambiance. And we take a break from classwork and read all day long!

Thanksgiving Food Drive

Once again we challenged Mrs. Boyd's 4/5 class to a food drive challenge. Our goal was 500 items for each class. We collected 411 items and Mrs. Boyd collected over 500. Success - because we were able to help local families during the holiday season.

We donated 411 items to River City Community Center food pantry.
