Grades: In Kindergarten we deal with scores of 1-4
4= mastery of a skill
3= approaching mastery, has a good handle
2= still needing help at times, still working on skill
1= needs help, has not mastered or has trouble with the skill
Here are the Standards for Kindergarten:
Reading and Writing:
Identify all capital and lowercase letters Orally reads decodable texts with appropriate accuracy and sutomaticity
Identify all capital and lower case sounds Identifies and describes features of nonfiction text
Orally segments words into syllables Identifies characters and settings in a text
Reads phonetically spelled words With support: asks/answers questions in text read or heard; retells familiar stories
Segments: beginning/middle/final sounds in words Through oral discussion: identifies/sorts pictures of objects into categories (color, shapes, opposites)
Identifies and produces rhyming words Uses words/pictures to develop main ides and provide information about topic
Uses words/pictures and dictation to narrate single event or simple story, using events in order
Writes phonetically spelled words Correctly writes capital and lower case letters of the alphabet
Capitalizes the first letter of the first word in a sentence and uses appropriate punctuation at the end
Math:
Counts by 1's to 100 by the end of the year Counts to 100 by tens Counts sets of objects to 20
Counts on from any given number Writes numbers 0-20 Identifies number words 0-10
Represents a number of objects with written numeral 0-20 Identifies sets of 1-10 objects in patterned arrangement and tell how many
Identifies whether number of objects in one group is greater than, less than, equal to number of objects in another group
Compares values of two numbers from 1-20 as written numerals Recognizes numbers 0-20
Solves addition/subtraction word problems using objects or drawings within 10
Decomposes numbers less than or equal to 10 into pairs in more than one way For any number (1-9) finds number to add to equal 10
Creates, extends and gives appropriate rule for simple repeating/growing patterns Compares 2d/3d shapes (similarities/differences)
Makes direct comparisons of lengths, capacities, weight and temperatures of objects
With guidance, collects data into simple graphs and tables to make comparisons
