A homework reminder is sent daily to the email listed in PowerSchool. Please check your email everyday for this reminder or change your email to make sure you are getting this information everyday. If multiple people would like to receive this email, all emails need to be put into PowerSchool, I cannot add email addresses to PowerSchool where I access the group message to send to all parents/guardians.
Homework is a priority in 4th grade. It gives students the opportunity to practice all skills learned in the classroom. Homework should be turned in on time, with their name and number, and completed with full effort. Students will lose 10% for each day homework is late. If it is not turned in after a week, homework will not be accepted and will be a zero in the grade book.
If students have a missing assignment, they should fill out a "missing assignment slip" and they are responsible for stapling the slip to the late assignment within the week. If I do not receive it within the week, they will receive a zero for that assignment.
As a 4th grader, students are responsible for writing in homework in their assignment books and taking home their red folders. Building responsibility in 4th grade is a very important lifeline.
If you plan to take your child out of school for a vacation during normal school days, homework will not be given in advance as my plans change day to day depending on my students' needs. All homework will be on your child's desk when they return. Thank you for understanding.
During a normal week, students have daily math homework, vocabulary and/or spelling homework throughout the week. They also should read 30 minutes every school night. It is important for students to read at home as it helps build their reading stamina, expand their vocabulary, and work on comprehension skills.
