If a student is not following the classroom expectations, I will give them one verbal warning to stop the behavior. If the behavior continues, I will then give them a "Think Sheet" to fill out. The sheet will allow them to reflect individually on how they felt during the situation, why they made a negative choice, and how they can make a better choice in the future. At the end of the day, I will speak with the student individually to understand how they felt during the situation and how we can work together to avoid the negative choice again in the future. If a student receives 2 Think Sheets within one day, both Think Sheets will go home with the student and will need to be returned the following day with a parent signature. I will also send an email home explaining the situation and to discuss how we can work together to support your child best.
As a whole class, the students will work together throughout the week to earn a special reward on Friday! Each week, I will choose a specific area for the class to focus on and work toward together. This focus may change from week to week based on what our class is working on or needs to improve. For example, one week we may focus on transitioning quickly and quietly between activities, while another week we may focus on walking respectfully in the hallways, or showing our best behavior during specials. Each day, the class will have an opportunity to earn one point toward their Friday incentive by meeting our weekly goal. At the end of the week, students will need to earn all five points to receive their class reward. The goal of this whol class incentive is to encourage students to work together, support one another, and take responsibility for making our classroom a positive place to learn. Some examples of our Friday rewards include extra recess, show and tell, games, stuffed animal day, extra choice time, and more!
