1. I expect all homework to be complete the day it is due.
2. Students should bring home all homework and materials in their green homework folder. Expect your child to have a math worksheet, spelling and vocabulary practice, and 20 minutes of nightly reading.
3. Students are expected to turn in assignments every morning. Any assignment not completed and ready to go first thing in the morning will be counted as late.
4. If a student does not have homework complete when it is due for any reason, he or she will lose DOJO points. He or she can do the homework after the initial due date, but the fine will not be reimbursed.
5. Students will be given three homework passes during the year, which allow the student to skip an assignment penalty free. They also will have the opportunity to purchase "half homework passes" through our mini-economy as well.
6. Most homework assignments will be graded for completion only.
******** You can help your student by checking their green folder every night and looking for assignments and weekly spelling and vocabulary words.
******** If your child is regularly bringing home more than 40 minutes of homework, please contact me so we can work to find a solution.
******** If you have any questions about homework, please feel free to contact me.
One important factor in my grading is my emphasis on mastering content and skills. The purpose of grading is not to penalize and reward students. Therefore, I will allow students to redo assignments (except projects and any work graded in class) on which they earn lower than a 70%. All tests and quizzes, regardless of percentage, can be corrected and returned with a parent signature for an average grade.
