Daily message from Mrs. Hare:
Good morning, class! I hope you all had a great weekend. As I plan ahead for the week, it will be impossible for me to hold live Google Meets (because I have virtual parent teacher conferences during these times). If you need extra help on anything, feel free to send me an email and we can set up a special time outside of school hours for me to help you.
I appreciate all of your flexibility and patience this week! I will be busy before school, during lunch, and after school with parent teacher conferences. I'll try to get back to you as soon as possible!

Today and tomorrow we will study a short video story about old photographs. Today you have two jobs. First, please read the "Prepare to Read" page assigned to you on Into Reading. Read the entire page, and write down the three vocabulary words and definitions. Second, turn the page once to the right, and watch the short video, "How Can Photos Take Us Back in Time?" Answer the two questions below the video.

Science/Social Studies
We are shifting back to social studies for awhile, and are picking up right where we left off! We last finished learning about the explorers to North America (Spanish, French, and British). The British won the French and Indian War, so they were able to take control of the land. Our next topic is the Revolutionary War! This was the war that gave our nation independence from British power. Please watch the video above as an introduction to some of the troubles we will learn about this week through video lessons!
Language Arts
Your spelling words for the week are listed in the document above. Today, please write them at least three times each to get familiar with them. If you don't know what a word means, make sure that you look it up! Our test will be Friday, and will be the same format as our last spelling test.
Continue reading information about your chosen person, and write notes (in the correct category) of your note sheet we began on Friday. This will help us create organized paragraphs when we begin writing. Try to research for about 20 minutes today. Some good options for research are listed below, but you ARE NOT limited to these options. Use the search bars on the websites below to find information about your chosen person.

Continue to work on your spelling list for the week. Choose your hardest 5 words to focus on the most. Then you can see how well you remember them tomorrow when you review!
Today and tomorrow are your last days to continue reading and researching for your Black History research project. (Remember to use the websites from Monday to help find good information!) Here are our next steps looking forward:
You will use your research to fill out an outline. This will help you prepare to write your essay.
You will have a few days to type your essay about what you have learned.
You will then create a slideshow highlighting the most important things you have learned (including important facts, maps, photographs, etc.)
Finally, you will share your projects with your classmates so they can learn about some of the many important Black figures who have impacted American history.
