Welcome to our second grade classroom! Our classroom is a student centered learning environment to make the children feel safe and loved. To start the day, the children will come into the classroom and incorporate with STEM bins (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). This allows the children to be hands-on and interactive when coming in for the morning. As a teacher, it is important to create a classroom family among the children in the classroom. To create a classroom family, I will incorporate morning meetings where the children say good morning to one another, wish other wells when sick, have children share among the class, and have the children participate in a team building game each morning.
Battle Ground Mission Statement
At BGE we strive to be a place:
Where every child can say, “My teachers care about me.”
Where every adult is fair, fun and friendly.
Where every child feels accepted and important.
Where every adult treats children with respect, kindness, and dignity.
Where every child learns and achieves.
Where every adult uses innovative, inventive and interesting methods to teach and reach students.
Where every child develops strong character.
Where every adult models and expects ethical behavior.
At BGE...Every child...every adult...MATTERS.
At the start of each week, the children will receive a homework sheet to complete for the week. The homework sheet will contain the children's spelling words for the week, daily reading, and math facts. The parents will sign off on the homework sheet. On Fridays, I will collect the homework sheet for completion.
Parent Teacher Conferences are scheduled two times a year in October and March. All parents are expected to attend. You will be given more information about conferences and the time to attend the dates closer to time. During conferences, we will discuss your child's academic progress, behavior, connections formed in the school, and how to help your child succeed in school.

We will be having classroom parties throughout the school year. This will be a fun way to celebrate with the class. When it gets closer to time, I will be sending out a sign up sheet for items to bring for the party and asking for volunteers to help run a station at the party.
