As a class, we work to break down each rule and discuss what it looks and sounds like to follow that rule.
The goal is to protect the classroom community and learning environment!
The teacher will warn the student when they are not following one of the rules.
If the teacher notices that the student may need to take a few deep breaths, take a short break, chat with the teacher, move to another place in line/classroom, choose another partner, ect. then the student will be told to reset.
If the student is still not making the right choice after a reset, then the student will use their (second) recess or free time to copy a recess paragraph reviewing the rule that was broken.
The teacher will have to contact home if she does not see a change in the student's decision making.
Celebrating Excellent Behavior
I love to celebrate the excellent things students do daily! To keep it fresh and motivating, I incorporate various ideas and practices to encourage positive behavior. This includes positive behavior games, "classroom coupons", sticker store, positive notes home, parties, and much more!
Grading
Tests and informal assessments will be graded using the TSC grading scale.

Viewing Student Work
Students will bring home completed paper assignments each Friday. Please, look for these papers in their green take home folder and review them with your student.
Digital Assignments will be graded and saved on google classroom.
Accalerated Reader (Renissance), IXL and I-Ready Assignments progress can be viewed through a student's Clever account and will be discussed during conferences.
Missing Work
Students are expected to turn in EVERY paper assignment they complete each day. Students must place their classwook in either a "complete" bin or an "incomplete" bin. If they fail to do so or if a "no name paper" is not claimed, then they will recieve a zero for that assignment. The teacher will contact home if this becomes a recurring problem and work with the student to prevent this from continuing to happen.
If a student turns in an assignment that is incomplete, then the teacher will determine if it needs to be passed back for homework, or if it can be finished the following day in class. If it is homework, then the assignment MUST be completed and turned in the next day. The teacher will pass it back, and the student will be responsible for placing it in their green take-home folder on their own. If the assignment is not turned back in the next day, then the student will not get full credit for the assignment.
Absences
Missed paper assignments and materials from the day of the absence will be on the child's desk in a blue folder for when they return. Some items we will do in class together, others may be sent home to be completed asap. Many times, we have completed assignments in class together. I will often have students "skip" doing those assignments or do them with me/classmate in class together. Students must have their absent assignments turned in a week after their absence or earlier.
