I understand and I can teach someone else.
I understand and I can do this by myself.
I am beginning to understand this-with help.
I do not understand-yet!
Viewing Student Work
Students will bring home completed paper assignments each Friday. Please, look for these papers in their take home folder and review them with your student.
Digital Assignments will be graded and saved on google classroom.
Absences
Missed paper assignments and materials from the day of the absence will be on the child's desk in a folder for when they return. Some items we will do in class together, others may be sent home to be completed asap.
Missing Work
Students will have until a few days before the end of the quarter to catch up on any missing work for credit. If a student does not turn in an assignment by the end of the quarter, then they will receive a failing grade. Mrs. Copeland will communicate with parents and students when final missing assignments are due at the end of the quarter.
Celebrating Excellent Behavior
I love to celebrate the excellent things students do daily! To keep it fresh and motivating, I incorporate various ideas and practices to encourage positive behavior. This includes "PAW-Some Praise" tickets, positive behavior games, "classroom coupons", sticker store, positive notes home, parties, and much more!
PAWS Praise!
Students can earn "PAW-some Praise" tickets from me when I witness an act that represents one of our PAWS expectations.
Every time a student earns a "PAW-some Praise" ticket they can place them in their envelope to save. 10 tickets mean a free coupon or sticker from Mrs. Copeland to use for something special in our classroom!
Logical Consequences
When necessary, students will be required to complete a Think Sheet to allow them to think about their actions and what they should choose to do next time. This will be sent home for students to discuss with an adult. An adult needs to sign the think sheet and send it back to school the next day.
Depending on the offense, I will act appropriately. I will determine a strategy that will best help the student refrain from making the same mistake again.
