20 Book Challenge
Print Books
Due to the COVID-19 virus, we are taking special precautions with our print materials. Students may browse and reserve print books from our library using our online catalog.
Digital Books
Check out eBooks and digital audiobooks through the Sora app from Overdrive. Sora offers the ability to connect with the public library's collection, as well. There are also recommendation lists that match up with our 20 Book Challenge in the app.
Book Recommendations
Here's my latest book recommendation:
The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly by Stephanie Oakes
All recommendation videos are also available on the library's Instagram, @hthslibrary.
You can also request personalized book recommendations from Mrs. Massey.
Virtual Book Displays
We want to make the virtual library experience as helpful and similar to the face-to-face experience as we can. That's why I've been creating Virtual Book Displays to help students find great books.
Free Online Reading
Instantly borrow digital movies, music, eBooks and more, 24/7 with your public library card. With no waiting, titles can be streamed immediately, or downloaded to phones or tablets for offline enjoyment later.
Hoopla requires that you have a library card. If you don't have an updated library card, you can sign up for an eCard.
Check out eBooks and digital audiobooks through MackinVIA. MackinVIA offers several eBooks with multi-user use, so multiple students can read them at once. You can also read and listen to books in the app without having to check them out, which can help keep items available to more people. Go to MackinVIA.
For as long as schools are closed, Audible is open. Kids everywhere can instantly stream an incredible collection of stories that will help them continue dreaming, learning, and just being kids. All stories are free to stream on your desktop, laptop, phone or tablet.
FREE access to the JLG Digital online reading platform!
With JLG Gold Standard eBooks for students, JLG Digital gives you and your readers unlimited access to read books online from any device. There is no limit to the number of users who can access the books, so tell your home-bound students to click to their hearts' content! Titles enter and exit the digital stream regularly, so there are always new picks available.
