Garden Valley Good Vibes with Mrs. Uba
Garden Valley Good Vibes with Mrs. Uba
Hello Falcons! My name is Mrs. Toni Uba and I'm your school counselor. This is my 7th year at Garden Valley Elementary, and I am so very pleased
to be a part of such a wonderful school community. Garden Valley School
fosters a love of learning, and I am no exception.
I am a graduate from Cal State University, Northridge and California Lutheran University with degrees and credentials in Deaf Studies, School Psychology and School Counseling. In fact, I love learning so much, that I chose a career that allows me to literally, go to school - forever!
It is this love of learning that I hope to encourage in all our students. I work to foster in our students the desire to discover things that they enjoy learning about and coming to school for - interests and motivations that can lead to future academic aspirations and, yes, even careers.
This year, I will encourage student success by sharing age-appropriate, classroom lessons designed to develop social-emotional competence and self-regulation. I’ll also be providing small-group counseling lessons that focus on Executive Functioning, Attendance and Friendship Maintenance. These are lessons that help students build-on and improve study skills, become strong learners and establish life-long friendships. Building tomorrow's skills today.
In my down-time, I enjoy walking my two adorable dogs, traveling - anywhere, watching TV sports - football, baseball, NASCAR, and reading period-piece novels - anything by Jane Austen.
If you’d like to contact me, you can find me in Room 22C, when I’m not working with the students, or connect with me via email or phone at tonius.louie-uba@trusd.net or 916-566-3460 x. 21362.
