Dear Trumbull Public Schools Certified Staff,
We are reaching out to communicate plans and topics for our November 2, 2021 Professional Learning Day. Our PDEC Committee, in addition to our district program leaders, administrators, and teacher leaders assisted in developing and designing the events for the day. Additionally, feedback from our August Professional Learning sessions was also incorporated.
Please note that the schedule for both our November and March professional learning days will be from 8:00am-3:00pm for all participants across grade levels. This consistency in scheduling allows for vertical teaming across grades and specialties.
Our goals, including the topics for our November Professional Learning day, will be to:
· Continue to foster positivity and work together towards school and district excellence with a focus on:
o SEL & Positive Psychology strategies
o Team building
· Further develop highly effective strategies and collaboration in ensuring successful student outcomes by grade level, department, specialty, or content area with specific focus in:
o Elementary Math (K-5), Social Studies (K-5)
o Middle School Instruction by Department
o High School Instruction & Tier 1 Differentiation for Learners by Department
o Unified Arts and Wellness K-12 best practices
o Special Education & Pupil Service Key Topics- Reading Assessment, Transition Planning, Mental Health Approaches, 504 Plan Fidelity, Executive Functioning and more.
· Examine Outcomes, Impact and Further Planning with a focus on:
o Formative Assessments by Grade and Department
o iReady results and Next Steps
· Allow time for additional state mandated trainings
o Suicide Prevention for all staff
o Sexual Harassment annual refresher for all but newly trained staff in the module.
· Incorporate Teacher Choice of Sessions in the afternoon, some of which include:
o Next steps in integrating technology into the classroom
o Meeting the needs of all learners with equity in mind
o Self-care sessions for educators
As always, a more detailed schedule with timing, room assignments, and building locations of all activities will be provided closer to the date.
