Welcome to AP Language and Composition!

Students enrolled in Advanced Placement Language and Composition for the 2023-2024 school year were invited to a Google Classroom in the first week of June AND were instructed to pick up a printed summer assignment packet in B2 or B7 before the end of the school year.

Within the Google Classroom you will find helpful resources as well as an electronic copy of the mandatory summer assignment. Please review all posted materials and the assignment carefully and thoroughly prior to the end of the 22-23 school year as teachers and administrators will be unavailable over the summer for assignment-related questions. All of the information you need to be successful is explained within this assignment. Re-read directions as necessary.

The summer work packet is due in its entirety on the first day of school, Tuesday, August 29th

Late assignments will not earn full credit.

All responses must be neatly handwritten within the provided packet. Typed responses will not be accepted (unless exempted by an individualized educational plan).

In addition to completing the summer work packet, students must choose and read TWO books of interest to you and be prepared to discuss both on our THS Summer Reading Day. We suggest at least one of your choices be from the non-fiction genre. Places to find a book to read include:

___ . ___

If you enrolled late or did not receive the invitation to join the Classroom, you should contact your THS guidance counselor for a link to the assignment. If you enrolled late, did not receive the invitation to join the Classroom, or have questions about your enrollment, please contact your guidance counselor.

PLAGIARISM WARNING

Your work must be your OWN - your own topic, thoughts, questions, planning, stylistic choices, writing, source collection, and compilation. (Not your friend’s, not an online plagiarism tool’s, not ChatGPT/AI’s, not your sibling’s, parent’s, or family member’s, etc. ideas or work.)

Use your notes, source material that you researched to support your own thinking, and our previous assignments and instruction to develop your work.

If you are suspected of plagiarizing (using non-approved sources, repurposing others’ work or ideas, using plagiarism/AI tools, allowing others to complete your work for you, etc.), you will earn a zero on the assignment [without a chance to rewrite] and referral based on the THS plagiarism policy.

Your summer work is due in its entirety on the first day of school:

Tuesday, August 29th.

Late assignments will not earn full credit.
