Missing a few but here’s our historians ready for an exciting year ahead of us!
*August 2024*
THS We the People have returned from their five days in Washington DC representing Connecticut at the We the People National Finals! I am happy to report that they came home with the Unit 3 Award!
The students were brilliant this season! They had about a month less time to prepare (due to the State Competition being so late and Nationals being 10 days earlier than normal!) and these kids surpassed all expectations. They lost out on the Division Award only to Maggie Walker School for Government (Richmond, VA) who were the reigning National Champions last year. Not bad!
The students were able to tour Mount Vernon (home of George Washington), all the monuments and museums and have a two hour behind the scene tour of the US Capitol with Senator Murphy’s staff and a 45 minute meeting with the Senator in his office. It was pretty epic!
In March 2024, the Trumbull High School Model Un Club competed in he Washington Area Model UN Conference hosted by George Washington University. Our delegates debated and drew up diplomatic resolutions on some of the worlds most pressing issues among hundreds of high school students from around the world.
Our Vice President, Audrey Zelezniak Berezowski took home the award for Honorable Mention in her role as Director of Public Relations in the WAMUNC Emergency Crisis Committee.
Our delegates worked hard all weekend and got to take in some of the sights DC has to offer, representing THS well. We are so proud of them!
Rho Kappa students led by senior Anthony Deras organized and ran a successful Voter Registration Drive during the lunch waves in March. Students that will be 18 on Election Day (11/5) were able to register and vote in Connecticut’s primary on April 2nd.
This past weekend, the THS Model UN Club competed in the prestigious Ivy League Model UN Conference hosted by UPenn. 20 of our delegates participated in challenging geopolitical debates with high school students from around the world.
Delegate Audrey Zelezniak-Berezowski was given a verbal commendation award for her role as Chief Marin in the California Gold Rush Crisis Committee.
Trumbull High’s We the People team are crowned the State Champions and will represent Connecticut at the National Finals this April!
The finals scores had Trumbull and Staples tied at 1,483 points and Greenwich came in third with 1,301 points. Trumbull High won four out of the six units.
The National Finals will take place April 12-16 in the DC area.
