The members of the Collective met together for the first time with the facilitators for an hour via Zoom. They got to know one another, talked about their musical inspirations, and shared their contact information and some of their original work. As soon as the meeting ended the group chat was on fire with members sharing ideas and sound files.
During the second Zoom meeting the Collective shared what they had been able to create so far. They had been busy sharing musical ideas, inspirations, and talking via Discord. The members had created an Americana group, a rock group, a metal group, and a singer-songwriter group. They also discussed how Jordon might be able to use some of the musical ideas to create beats and transitions between the songs during the live performance.
At the third meeting, the sub-groups updated everyone about the progress they had made since the last meeting with their genre-specific songs. They also started talking about elements of their stage performance, particularly initial ideas about what they wanted to wear.
"If you think you'll use it, bring it!"
This meeting was more of a logistical meeting. The members made final decisions about the equipment individuals would bring and Dr. Powell reminded them all to get some sleep and drink water!
It would be impossible to adequately capture the magic that happened over the last few days. The members of the collective brought their talents together and not only created amazing music, but created a musical family.
