Leadership Capacity

1.1 Purpose statement

The Rock School is committed to being a vision-driven institution. The vision defines our student outcomes - what success looks like - and functions as the lens by which all decisions are made.

1.2 Achievement of purpose statement

Students and staff are actively and routinely engaged with the success criteria defined in our vision statement. It is a daily part of our school's language and activities and is evidenced in student work, teacher planning, and school culture and space. Ultimately, achievement of our vision statement is evidenced by the students that cross our stage and receive their diplomas at Graduation. Read about our accomplished valedictorians and salutatorians below.

1.3 ContinUous improvement process

The school has an ongoing plan to provide improvement across all areas of our school - academic progress, spiritual formation, campus expansion, student enrollment, and teacher wellness. In doing so, we seek to exemplify our success criteria as a community of lifelong learners.

1.4 board governance

The Rock School is a ministry of The Rock of Gainesville church and is governed by a senior pastoral team that constitutes our board.

1.5 Board governance

The governing body has received board training and adheres to an ethical standard in alignment with the school's overall vision.

1.6 Staff supervision & evaluation

The staff of The Rock School have various opportunities to receive ongoing feedback and support, both formally and informally. This was a priority after the 2015 review and led to the creation and hiring of an Instructional Coach to provide leadership in this area.

1.7 operating processes

The school maintains policies and procedures that ensure teachers are well-equipped to perform their duties at the highest levels.

1.8 stakeholder engagement

The Rock School consistently elicits input from students, staff, and parents, both formally (surveys, etc) and informally (open door policy, emails) and provides feedback to stakeholders on how input guided decision-making.

1.9 leadership effectiveness

Students, staff, and parents are offered opportunities for leadership within the school. What we are most proud of is our #DoSomething Projects - community service projects designed and led by students, staff, and parents. Check out our display wall to see some examples!

1.10 data-driven decision making

We collect and analyze data from multiple sources. The first document on this list presents three case studies that detail the process of how data informs decision-making within each stakeholder group.
