The name of this organization shall be the Fleming Middle School Student Leadership.
The purpose of this organization shall be:
Section 1.
To give students opportunities to practice becoming successful leaders.
Section 2.
To better serve the community and school.
Section 3.
To generate original ideas, implement successful projects, and reflect effectiveness.
Section 4.
To develop skills and techniques for leadership.
Section 5.
To learn communication skills, group dynamics, and self-awareness.
Section 6.
To perfect organizational and time-management strategies.
Section 7.
To promote the welfare of the student body and prepare engaging projects.
All students legally enrolled in Fleming Middle School shall be considered to have membership in Student Leadership.
The membership of Student Leadership shall consist of 15 8th grade students, 10 7th grade students, and 5 6th grade students. Each member must complete proper application requirements.
The leadership adviser is appointed by the principal, and acting as a designee of the principal, is empowered to manage leadership activities, oversee the council budget, provide leadership training, and support members in any means possible.
Regular meetings shall be held at least once a month in a designated room. In case of bad weather or emergency, the adviser shall have the authority to cancel a meeting. All regular meetings shall be open to the student body. A meeting may be called by the adviser or two-thirds of leadership. No special meeting may be called without prior notification of the adviser.
In order for ideas to be presented to the Leadership class, students are asked to fill out a form known as, Project Proposal Form.The Project Proposal Form will go through the adviser and then the administrator. Once, and only if the form is passed, it shall be voted on by the class. If a majority agrees, it will be set to plan, but if a majority disagrees it shall be vetoed.
Section 1.
Any proposed amendments to this constitution may be initiated by active school members and forwarded to the leadership body.
Section 2.
When a majority of the leadership body approve the proposed amendment(s), copies are to be presented to the active adviser.
Section 3.
The amendment(s) become effective if two-thirds (2/3) of voting population, as outlined in Section 2 above, approve the amendment(s)
Section 4.
The adviser shall review proposed amendments.
Section 5.
Once amendments are passed and approved by leadership body and adviser they are forwarded to the administrator for final approval.
On September 2014, the first constitution was ratified by unanimous vote of the active administration, adviser, and student body.
