Because of class load, the State of Michigan requires high schools to assign a study lab to dual enrolled students. The purpose of a study lab hour is for students to study for class, or work on college and career topics. These students may also read a book. The intent of study lab is not to be playing computer games, cards, or socializing. Since other students may be making up tests or exams, study lab students must be quiet and respectful of others while in the media center. The media specialist reserves the right to ask students to return to their studies, quiet down, or to move students. Not complying with the media specialists request, may result in disciplinary action.
For reasons of security, students must sign in and out using the sign in sheet found on the counter.
All students must stay the entire hour, and may not leave until the bell.
All handbook policies regarding passes and being in the hallways during class are in effect.
The library computers may be used, but classes using the library have priority, as do students sent to the library by their teacher to work on the computers.
All computer labs are off limits to study lab students.
The conference rooms are off limits to study lab students.
While students may have drinks in the library, food is not allowed.
Students must leave their work area as they found it, by pushing in chairs and cleaning up after themselves.
