Students with parents who are involved in their education tend to perform better academically and have fewer behavior problems. They are more likely to successfully complete high school and experience a sense of belonging and well-being.
Involvement can look different for every family. Taking an active role in education can be attending meetings and events at the school, supporting homework and projects at home, staying up-to-date with school news, and taking an active interest in your child's day by talking with your child frequently about school.
Reading with your child on a daily basis can increase literacy skills and develop a love of reading. Playing board games and games with numbers can increase numeracy skills and develop a love of math. By engaging with books and games at home, families have an opportunity to support the learning process at home, developing children into life-long learners and problem-solvers.
At Troy Heritage Trail, we believe school is a place of learning for all, including families. Please use the resources found here to support your family involvement and learning at home.
