Trondheim

About Trondheim

The city of Trondheim was recognised as the most innovative city in Norway in 2019 by the Ministry of Local Governments and Modernisation. In their justification the jury emphasised the system wide changes we had begun to implement. As most cities, Trondheim continuously strives to achieve a sustainable, smart and attractive society for all. Our benchmark are the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). To accelerate towards the goals we investigated how a society learns, and made changes to enhance our capacity for societal learning with an emphasis on co-creation between sectors and industries. This learning by co-creating is important to generate the knowledge, solutions and funding needed to realise the UN SDGs all the while meeting our citizens’ expectation.
