Attached you will find the tunes that we will be playing together for the festival in September. They are three traditional melodies from Flanders.
If in doubt opt for the first voice…..
First of all there is the “Reuzenlied”, or the song of the giants. This tune is played whenever giants join a parade in Flanders. Wie play the A part (with repeat), then the B part, en we start over as many times as we want…
You can hear this tune played by a music band in the traditional way, the way we are going to play it here: https://www.carnavaldecassel.fr/reuze-lied/
Then we have the tunes l’Amiable and ’t Haegelant, two country dances, which we will be playing connected.
First l’Amiable: we play A, B, en A again (with the repeats). The B part is played on the rim of the drums.
After this, the drums will play the A part of ’t Haegelant alone, (with repeat)
Then one or two fifes and drums of every group will play ’t Haegelant A and B (with repeats)
Finally everybody will join in for an A and a B (with repeats) of ’t Haegelant.
I hope you will enjoy these tunes.
