The PeopleNet Link™ is designed to facilitate sending and receiving fleet data from the PeopleNet Open Interface.
The hardware or virtual component, a network appliance with a Linux operating system, is installed on your network behind the firewall or in a DMZ. A blank database is created on your database server. The Link application uses JDBC (Java database connectivity) to access a variety of databases so it is not limited to a specific database.
The software component is a multithreaded Java application that makes HTTP and XML requests to send and receive data from the Open Interface. Each thread handles a specific process, such as uploading messages, processing Automated Workflow dispatches, downloading driver messages, updating status on previously sent messages, and downloading vehicle locations. All data is stored in the database. The Link Management Console user interface provides configuration, management and reporting tools.
