GTFS data can work well with other aspects of agency operations, and can form the foundation of your agency's transit stack. Learn more in the articles below.
The 'transit stack' is a term to describe the organization of transit technologies and their data for an agency. Learning to describe your transit stack will make it easier to develop RFPs for procurement of new technologies, ensure efforts are not wasted with redundant entry, and reduce the risk errors will crop up between technologies and data sources.
GTFS data can be used in a variety of geospatial analysis platforms. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) programs like Esri’s ArcGIS, as well as the open-source QGIS have their own plugins and extensions that can import and visualize GTFS stop and route data.
GTFS can be used in collaboration with scheduling/runcutting software, CAD/AVL tools, and even signage and annunciator hardware.
