Making Connections

One of the strongest qualites that TCCC possesses is that relationships we build with our students. Building relationships can help with attendance, retention of students and developing students to be the best that they can be.

Building relationships

The following are examples of steps that can be done to make better connections with our students:

  1. Interest inventories - Should be completed within the first week of school.

  2. Using interest, build lessons that include student names, a common theme or other activity the student would like.

  3. Have one on one conversations with our students. Really listen to them.

  4. Protect the student's self esteem. Listen for conversations that are difficult and help students through them.

  5. Praise the good behaviors. Call parents/guardians, too.
