Parent Mentor

Michele Spreng

Parent Mentor for Tri-County ESC

My name is Michele Spreng and I am excited to be the new Parent Mentor for the Tri-County ESC. Prior to transitioning to this new role, I was an Intervention Specialist for 11 years with Wooster City Schools. My husband, CJ, has held administrative roles at East Holmes Local Schools and Wooster City Schools. Last year, we adopted our 5-year-old son, who has Autism and Cerebral Palsy, allowing me to experience the world of special education through a parent perspective.

My goal as Parent Mentor is to integrate my various experiences in the special education field to build positive, productive partnerships between parents and school districts to meet the needs of students with disabilities.

Parent Mentors can provide information and support to assist in:

• Understanding the rights and responsibilities of families, students and schools.

• Transitioning from preschool and high school.

• Guiding families through any special education meeting at the request of the family or

district.

• Hosting information sessions for schools and families.

• Connecting families and educators with agencies that support students with disabilities
