LOCAL SCHOLARSHIPS - Will Be Released END OF APRIL - BEGINNING OF MAY
** NEW** The Good Samaritan Scholarship:
The Tri-City Good Samaritan Scholarship Is dedicated to honoring the service and memory of three retired Tri-City teachers, Beverly Morris, kindergarten teachers from 1969-1989, Charles (Chuck) Wilson, junior high and high school science teacher from 1965-1993, and Kay Campbell, first and second grade teacher form 1982-2004. This scholarship Is also established In recognition of all Tri-City teachers and administrators past and present who have made and continue to make a positive Impact on the lives of their students. We appreciate all you have done for the young people of our community.
Beginning with the 2022 Tri-City High School graduating class the Tri-City Good Samaritan Scholarship shall be awarded annually. The Scholarship will be In the amount of $5,000 and shall be paid as a tuition credit to the four or two year college/ university of the recipients choice. All Tri-City graduation seniors shall be eligible to apply for the scholarship.
Selection of the recipient will be based on the following three factors.
The applicant's academic record at Tri-City High School
Actionable evidence of the applicant's desire to help others. Meeting this requirement shall be achieved by the applicant's participation In activities such as community service projects, providing tutoring services to students In need as assistance, mission projects designed to help others less fortunate, and other activities which demonstrate the applicants caring attitude toward others.
An explanation of how the scholarship will financially assist the applicant In attending the college/ university of his/her choice.
Funding for the T-C Good Samaritan Scholarship Is being provided by a family that lived on a small farm In the district from 1982-2002. Our family hopes this scholarship In a small way demonstrates our appreciation for the many blessings we received from the Tri-City community and school district during the twenty-four years we were residents.

TCEA Scholarship: The Tri-City Education Association will present a $250.00 scholarship to a graduating senior at the end of the current school year. The recipient will receive a check, payable to the student, following presentation of proof of his/her enrollment as a full-time student at a college which has an Associates or Bachelors degree program. The recipient will be chosen on the basis of academic achievement, good citizenship and the establishment of purposeful goals. A committee will review the application and choose the recipients.

TC Student Council Scholarship: The Tri-City Student Council will be offering one $500.00 scholarship for the 2020-2021 school year. The scholarship will be for any student who is currently serving or who has served on Student Council during their four years in high school.A committee will review the application and choose the recipients.

Siders Scholarship: Two students will be selected to receive a $750.00 scholarship based on the attached application and criteria listed below. A committee will review the application and choose the recipients.
Guidelines
1. Graduate from Tri-City High School with a 3.0 or higher grade point average
2. Participate in any sport for four (4) years
3. Proof of acceptance at a college, trade school or business school
4. Recommendation by a faculty member and/or coach based on student accomplishments
The recipient will receive a check, payable to the student, following proof of his/her enrollment as a full-time student at an accredited institution. The proof should be submitted to the school counselor.

Bill Marvin, TC's Mustache Man, Scholarship: One student will be awarded with a $500.00 scholarship. The Bill Marvin TC's Mustache Man Scholarship will be awarded in honor of Bill Marvin and his dedication to Tri-City and the Tri-City community. The recipient will be chosen on the basis of academic achievement, good citizenship, and the establishment of purposeful goals. Additionally the applicant should demonstrate outstanding school spirit and have had a positive influence on Tri-City schools. A committee will review the application and choose the recipients.

Carlock #904 Masonic Lodge Scholarship: The local Masonic Lodge will present a scholarship to a graduating senior from Tri-City at the end of the current school year. The recipient will receive a check, payable to the student, following presentation of proof of his/her enrollment as a full-time student at a college or trade school. The maximum amount of the scholarship will be $500.00.

Mechanicsburg Fire Protection District Scholarship: The Mechanicsburg Fire Protection District will present a scholarship to a graduating senior from Tri-City at the end of the current school year. The recipient will receive a check payable to the student, following presentation of proof of his/her enrollment as a full-time student at college or trade school. The maximum amount of the scholarship will be $1000.00
Interested seniors must complete the application. The recipient will be chosen on the basis of academic achievement, good citizenship and the establishment of purposeful goals.

The Save Abandoned Babies Foundation

While there is a requirement that the "Baby Safe Haven" Law be taught in public high schools, we know that this is not always possible for various reasons or that the students may have been absent at that time. We believe that many students still do not know about this life-saving law. With this scholarship opportunity, we hope to increase their awareness of the Illinois Newborn Infant Protection Act, often referred to as the Baby Safe Haven Law and at the same time have an opportunity to win a scholarship to further their education.

William E. McElroy Scholarship/Grants

The late William E. McElroy, former Springfield Postmaster, established In his will the Williams E. McElroy Charitable Foundation. The purpose of the Foundation Is to provide area scholasrhip and research grants. The Foundation Is administered by U.S. Bank N.A. Trust Department In Springfield, Illinois. Mr. McElroy, born October 3, 1896, was a Springfield Postmaster until his retirement In 1971. He was a Navy Veteran In World War 1. Mr. McElroy Is survived by his wife Helen, who now resides In Arizona. Mr. McElroy passed away on July 14, 1992.

The Gamma Chapter of Farm House Fraternity - Scholarships
Amount of award: Multiple Scholarships ranging from $500 - $4,000

The Gamma Chapter of FarmHouse Fraternity at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign offers multiple scholarships to incoming students of all majors that will be attending the university the following year of applying. In 2022, the Illinois Chapter gave out over $15,000 to incoming students in scholarships. In 2023, we plan to give out more depending upon a qualified pool of candidates. Scholarships range from $500-$4,000.
Eligibility:
Male student who will be attending the University of Illinois for the first time during the next fall semester.
The application process for the First Time Student Scholarships involves two steps: the written application and interview. Applicants wishing to be eligible for the scholarships must first submit the written application by April 15th, which can be found below. Finalists will then be selected based on their applications and invited to interview with a panel of current members and alumni on April 29th. The winners of the scholarship will then be notified shortly after. Finalists who are unable to attend the interview date will be asked to conduct a phone interview. ** First time student are high school seniors beginning their freshman year or students transferring to the U of I.**

The Carl C. Bell Memorial Award 2023- Essay Competition

The Carl Bell Memorial Award was established to honor the late Carl Bell, M.D. who was remarkable psychiatrist and nationally known for his community psychiatry work, especially on the south side of Chicago.

Louie Family Foundation Scholarships

Amount Awarded: $4,000 - 25 Awards
To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:
A) Be a freshman in the 2021-2022 academic year at a U.S. accredited college/university.
B) Have a cumulative, un-weighted grade point average between 3.7 and 4.0.
C) Have a minimum SAT score of 1300 (out of 1600) or a minimum ACT score of 27.
Prairieland FS Scholarship 2021 - Open to Local full-time students with an interest in pursuing a career in agriculture or agribusiness.

We are proud to announce that we will be offering 5-$1,000 scholarships to local full-time area students with an interest in pursuing a career in agriculture or agribusiness. Scholarships will be awarded upon successful completion of the fall semester. The primary goal of this program is to encourage area students to prepare for a career in agriculture or agribusiness
To apply for a Prairieland FS Scholarship, an applicant must:
Be active or seeking membership in local agriculture groups or vocational classes, including membership in his/her local FFA chapter or 4H.
Be at least a high school senior or already enrolled in a college and must have maintained a satisfactory grade point on at least 3.0 of a 4.0 point scale. Official transcripts will need to be submitted.
Scholarship recipient can only receive a Prairieland FS scholarship once.
Scholarship recipients agree to attend a Prairieland FS Board Meeting or company-sponsored event.

Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) Scholarship Program

Amount Awarded: Monthly Grant of $1,273 to go toward room and board, dormitory fees, or travel expenses. Will continue through academic year. One-time start-up grant In amount of $224 to assist with their Initial college living expenses. and a medical card. May Include textbooks and supplies. Recipients who attend a community college, university or college maintained by the state of Illinois will also receive a waiver of tuition and mandatory fees for up to 5 years.
To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:
Earned a high school diploma from an accredited Institution
Met the state criteria from high school graduation before the start of the school year for which they are applying for the scholarship.
In addition applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
The department has court-orderd legal responsibility for the applicant, or
The applicant aged out of the Department's care at age 18 or older or
the applicant who was formerly under care has been adopted or placed In private guardianship.

Scott and Kim Verplank Foundation Scholarship

To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:
A) Be a high school senior diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and have a GPA of 3.0 or greater.
B) Be successfully managing diabetes with proper medication, exercise and diet.
PB&J Scholarship

This annual scholarship Is for students who have experienced personal challenges that may not have allowed them to perform well academically, but who still have the drive to succeed. With no GPA requirement, students are encouraged to apply as this scholarship Is meant to be Inclusive.

Kathleen Wright Social Work Scholarship Fund

The Youth Service Bureau has established a scholarship program to acknowledge and celebrate the end of our former executive director's 25-year career helping youth in our community. The scholarship will award $1,000 toward their education in the field of social work. The scholarship application is open to students who reside in Sangamon, Christian, Logan, Mason or Menard Counties.
To Apply for the scholarship, students need to write a personal letter including the following information:
Student Name, Address, Phone Number & Email
High School they are currently attending
College they plan to attend (if known)
Why they would like to go into social work and how this scholarship will help them in this goal
Optional Information: GPA, Class Standing, Activities, Accomplishments, Achievements, or any other information they would like our selection committee to know.

Requirements - Be enrolled full time as a high school senior In the 2021-2022 school year in Illinois, progressing normally toward graduation, and planning to enter college no later than the fall of the following year. Have a strong commitment to pursue a higher education in an office professional, secretarial, or business-related field within the State of Illinois with preference given to attendance at University of Illinois; involvement in co-curricular and community activities; demonstrate academic achievement; be a resident of Illinois; be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States.

Sangamon County Farm Bureau Foundation Scholarship

To be eligible for consideration, an applicant must:
Be a high school senior graduating in 2021 or a first-year student in a postsecondary school.
Be a Sangamon County Farm Bureau member, spouse of a member or child of a member. (Minimum 1 year)
Be accepted for enrollment or be enrolled at a post-secondary school.
Exhibit potential for successful completion of course studies.
Be a resident of Sangamon County, Illinois.
Past recipients may reapply, but no student may receive more than two (2) scholarships from the Sangamon
County Farm Bureau Foundation.
