Hi, I’m Mai — a certified Pilates, Barre, and strength training instructor based in Tokyo.
I lead energetic, high-intensity, English-friendly group classes designed for people who love to challenge themselves, stay active,
and feel powerful in the way they move while in Japan.
I believe fitness should make you sweat, strengthen, and smile — pushing your limits in a supportive, fun environment that inspires real progress.
I taught in the United States through December 2025 before relocating to Japan,
where her classes were popular with participants of all ages and fitness levels.
All levels are welcome. No experience needed.

I didn’t exercise at all during my pregnancy.
When I was one year postpartum (left), and then six months later (right), my body changed dramatically. I didn’t do any strict dieting — no food restrictions at all.
There are many types of exercise out there, but I truly believe that finding a workout you love, doing it the right way, and being consistent are the fastest paths to a toned body. Many people see the best results from Pilates and barre exercises, especially when it comes to body shaping and toning.
Among all the options, what makes it fun and effective is Mai’s “Sculpt Pilates” and the U.S. favorite “SoulBody Barre.”

I’ve been taking Pilates with Mai for about six months now. Every time, she teaches in a really clear and easy-to-follow way, always demonstrating the movements as she explains them. At first I was worried because I had no experience at all, but thanks to her guidance, I’m now able to keep up with the lessons and do the exercises with confidence. I’ve gradually learned how to engage and lift my pelvic floor muscles, and once you can do that, you’re essentially training them as you go. Many people are recommended pelvic floor training for lower-body issues like urinary leakage that can come with aging — (I’m not quite at that age yet!) — but when I try to do those exercises on purpose, I usually don’t stick with them for long. What I love about practicing Pilates is that I can work on these muscles while doing movements I actually enjoy. I think that’s a huge advantage. It might even be something I’d recommend to older adults, too.
