William Godwin, born In 1756, Is labeled as the founder of philosophical anarchism. His most famous work, An Inquiry Concerning Political Justice (1793), argues that government Is a corrupting force In society and that they perpetuate dependence and Ignorance. This work aims at reviewing political Institutions, arguing against coercive government and promoted Individual reasoning and conscience.
Godwin was born on 3 March 1756 In Wisbeach, Cambridgeshire. William grew up poor, but his family found Importance In his education, allowing him to first receive his education from an elderly woman named Mrs. Gedge, where his studies mainly focused on the discussion of religion. William then went along to study at Hoxton Academy, continuing his religious studies with a focus on Arminianism. Following this, he sent out to practice his vocation, but during this time faced a religious revolution. Godwin then had begun to put out political pamphlets, alongside his sermons, eventually leading to this publishing of his most famous work An Inquiry Concerning Political Justice (1793).
