Sign-In problems

Sign in Problems

The Translation Commons sign-in is based on a Google single sign-in which enables all members to access the TC Google Workspace. The most probable cause of difficulty in signing-in is that there is either a Google account conflict or a browser account conflict: you may be signed in to another Google Account (Gmail or G Suite) in the same browser. You can check it from any tab by typing gmail.com in and clicking on the round picture. You will need to add more accounts and from there you will be able to switch accounts. Or you may choose to use another browser for different Google accounts.

Alternatively, you can just open an Incognito Window and try from scratch there:

1. Open an Incognito Window in Chrome (Ctrl-Shift-N or Command-Shift-N) and

2. Sign into translationcommons.org from there,

Sign out

When you sign out of one account, you also sign out of all your accounts on that browser:

  1. On your computer, go to a Google page, like www.google.com.

  2. On the top right, select your profile image or initial.

  3. On the menu, choose Sign out.

Accounts have separate settings

You can control your settings separately for each of your accounts. When you sign in to multiple accounts, account settings usually aren't shared between accounts. For example, your accounts might have different language settings or sign-in steps.

Sometimes settings might carry over

If you're signed in to multiple accounts at the same time, sometimes we can't tell which account you're using. For example, if you're signed in to two accounts and you open a new browser window, we aren't sure which account you want to use. In cases like these, Google might apply settings from your default account, like its Web & App Activity and Ads Personalization settings.

What a default account is

In many cases, your default account is the one you signed in with first. On mobile devices, your default account can vary depending on your device's operating system and the apps you use.
