Fundamental English
The Fundamental English courses are designed to be individualized English Language Arts lessons in the areas Reading strategies, Writing strategies, Vocabulary development, and Grammar mechanics. The individualized lessons are based on the student’s assessed skill levels and are chosen to address areas of skill gaps compared to their grade level peers who attend the general education English Language Arts classes. A student’s Individual Education Plan goals in the areas of Reading, Writing and Transition Skills may also be included in the lessons.
Resource
Students with Individual Education Plans attend the Resource class in lieu of a Study Hall. The Resource class has a smaller number of students than a typical Study Hall class, so there is more opportunity for the Resource teacher to assist students with homework and missing assignments. The Resource class is also used to work with students on their Individual Education Plan goals.
