Homework Requirements

It is absolutely necessary for your child to form a habit of getting work done on time. In their future endeavors, your child will have deadlines to meet in their future professions and responsibilities. Assignments are made in most subjects based on your child’s ability to perform. It is necessary to set goals that will help your child learn the basic objectives set forth by the school’s curriculum. Some children will require more time than others to achieve these goals. Only by doing a good job on work completed and having work done on time, will these goals be met. Unacceptable work or incomplete work must be done correctly and completed in a timely fashion. If work is not completed, your child may miss out on a portion of recess until the assignment is completed. As your child progresses through the school year, more and more self-independence is expected. Time will be provided to get most of the required assignments done in class; it then will be your child’s responsibility to finish these assignments as homework. More responsibility is put on the fifth graders so that they can adjust to the abundant independent work that they will experience in sixth grade and junior high.
