Hello!  I'm Leslie Nelson, a Social Studies teacher at Topeka West High School.  I have been teaching in Topeka Public Schools since 2006.  During my career at TPS, I have taught students in grades 6-12 and all core Social Studies classes.  I also serve as the 6-12 Social Studies Consulting Teacher for TPS and am member of the district's Innovation Academy.

I was recently named the 2024 High School History Teacher of the Year by the Kansas Council for History Education.

Outside of the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my husband, son, our two dogs, and our cat.
