Week Ten

Pirates and Treasure

Well what an adventure the children have had this week. We set sail on our pirate ship to look for treasure, on the way we encountered a hungry shark. The children managed to keep it at bay by feeding it small fish with letters of the alphabet on them. We continued our journey singing pirate songs and found erupting ice cube treasure chests full of exciting things. The children counted the items they found, they recognised different shapes and colours.

We had a treasure hunt to find doubloons we made from salt dough the children added golden glitter for sparkle and turmeric to make them look like real gold we cut them into different sizes and stamped them with letters and numbers then baked them in the oven.

In arts and crafts the children were very creative they made sea gulls using black and white feathers to add to our under the sea theme in the classroom.

In water play this week we created our own rain. The children looked at what would float using the boats they made from foam and what would sink using different objects like stones and shells.

Our adventure will continue next week. Who knows what we may find!
