Each pumpkin started life about 100 days ago on a farm on the Navajo Indian Reservation in Farmington, NM. Great care has been taken in the planting, growing and harvest to ensure that you have purchased a quality pumpkin with a long shelf life.
Unlinke many other produce growers, this reservation does not use undocumented labor. Nearly 100% of the farm workforce is Native American. We believe it is very important to use domestic labor as the unemployment rate in this region of New Mexico is over 40%. This project and others like it create roughly 25 fulltime jobs and 550 seasonal jobs for Native Americans.
The pumpkin you select is a non-GMO product. After ripening, this pumpkin was hand loaded on a truck and travelled all the way to the pumpkin patch of The People's Community Baptist Church (TPCBC) in Silver Spring, MD to help raise money to bless five families in need with a delicious Christmas dinner and gifts for the upcoming holiday season. This pumpkin has helped a lot of people on its way to you... treat it with love and great care!
