The International Student Meeting Held Online with Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences
2023年7月3日（月）にオランダ・アムステルダム応用化学大学（以下アムス大）との国際学生ミーティングが開催されました。
この時期オランダの大学は、学期末で試験を終えた学生は海外旅行に飛び立ち、そうではない学生は追試を受けているとの事だったので、アムス大から何人が参加するのか不安でしたが、結果的に４名の学生が参加しました。そのうちの一人は既に来日しており、大阪からの参加でした。他2名は、来年春学期に日本への留学が決定しており、そのうち一人は東洋大学に留学するということで日本の学生生活に興味津々でした。多くの質問も飛び交い参加者間の距離がグッと近づきました。さらに本学からの参加者12名の内、今年秋学期からアムス大へ留学する学生が二人参加し、留学前に相手校の学生たちと交流できたことをとても喜んでいました。
On Monday, July 3, 2023, the International Student Meeting was held with the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS) of the Netherlands.
I was worried about how many students from AUAS would participate because in the Netherlands at that time, university students who had finished their exams at the end of the semester were travelling overseas, and those who hadn’t were taking makeup exams. Eventually, however, four students participated in the event. One of them, who had already come to Japan, participated from Osaka. The two other students will be studying in Japan in the next spring semester, and one of them, who will study at Toyo University, is very interested in student life in Japan. The participants became much closer to one another by asking many questions. Furthermore, among the 12 participants from Toyo University, two students who will study at AUAS from this fall semester also participated. They were very happy to be able to interact with the students from AUAS before studying abroad.
本学の発表者が白山キャンパスにある食堂やカフェなどを紹介すると、アムス大の学生たちは、その種類の多さに驚いていました。何故なら、オランダでは通常ランチで食べるのはサンドイッチ、しかも、挟む具材はチーズならチーズ、ハムならハムと、単品の場合がほとんどだというのです。本格インドカレーや韓国料理など多彩なメニューが楽しめる本学の学食は豪勢に見えるはずです。
もう一人の発表者は、授業スケジュールの紹介に始まり、東京でのバイト先と出身地である山形県での休暇中のバイトについて説明しました。学生たちの話は、バイトの種類や料金、そして、インターンシップへと展開して行きました。
今回は、互いの大学へ留学が決まっている学生が参加していたため、より具体的な学生生活の情報交換を行うことができました。終始和やかな雰囲気の中、リラックスして会話を交わす学生たちの様子が印象的な回となりました。（担当教員 国際教育センター 小早川 裕子）
When a presenter from Toyo University introduced cafeterias and cafes on the Hakusan Campus, the students from AUAS were surprised at the variety offered. The reason is that in the Netherlands, sandwiches are usually eaten for lunch, and in most cases, they contain only a single item, such as cheese or ham. By comparison, the cafeterias at Toyo University, where you can enjoy a variety of menus such as authentic Indian curry and Korean cuisine, look luxurious.
Another presenter started by introducing her class schedule, and then explained about her part-time job in Tokyo and in her hometown of Yamagata prefecture during vacation. The students talked about types of part-time jobs, wages, and internships.
In this event, students were able to exchange more specific information on student life because the participants included students who had decided to study at each other's universities. It was impressive to see the students relaxing and conversing in a friendly atmosphere from beginning to end. (Instructor in charge: Yuko Kobayakawa, Center for Global Education and Exchange)
